Nose Reshaping Rhinoplasty

The nose is one of the most prominent features of the face and can greatly affect our overall appearance. Many people are self conscious of the shape of their nose. The nose continues to grow until the age of 16, and it is therefore, not recommended to operate before this age. We inherit the characteristics of our nose from our parents, but injury to the nose may cause nasal deformities or nasal obstruction.

Reduction Rhinoplasty reduces the framework of the nose. If the nostrils are too wide, it may be necessary to narrow them by cutting out a small piece of skin in the floor of the nostril.

Augmentation Rhinoplasty will correct the bridge line, the width of the nose and possibly reshape the nasal tip. This procedure improves the appearance of a flattened nose by introducing some additional cartilage or bone.

The operation is performed in a private hospital under a general anaesthetic, although sometimes local anaesthetic and sedation is adequate. There will be some numbness and stiffness for several weeks, but patients are able to resume their normal duties two weeks after the operation.
