Liposculpture Suction-Assisted Lipectomy

Liposculpture will give a permanent change in body contour and can be performed in both men and women of all ages. However, pregnant women and people with certain medical conditions should not undergo this type of surgery.

In certain individuals there is an inherited tendency to deposit fat in a number of "problem areas". These include the abdomen, inner and the outer thighs, inner side of the knees, chin area, neck and the arms. The stubborn fat on these areas can be permanently removed by Liposculpture, as the fat cells do not regenerate in adults.

The amount of fat that can be removed is limited to three litres in any one time, so it is very important for the patient to understand that Liposculpture is not a treatment for obesity.

This operation is performed in a private hospital and a local or general anaesthetic is used, depending on the area that needs to be treated. There is some swelling, numbness and bruising for several weeks after the initial treatment. It is expected that patients can resume normal duties after a few weeks, depending on the size of the treatment.
